On
a road at once familiar
By: Lee
On a road at once familiar
And all too much unknown
My story’s yet unfinished
This path I walk alone
And
here I meet a crossroad
A clearing through the brush
Do I take the proverbial less traveled path?
Do
I headlong therein rush?
Triumph
By: Lee
They’ve tried every chance they get
To make me bow, to make me kneel
To make me accept the threat
But no I refuse
They can never make me.
Though my body may lie, bloody and broken
My spirit soars triumphantly
Because their coerces do not function
I stand strong
In and to my mind, spirit and soul
I am myself again, my true self
Flying high, flying free
Never away nor giving up
But always coming back
Never submitting, but challenging the wave
I triumph!
NOTHING
by: Lee
I am nothing
A puppet with strings
My every move watched
By one who controls.
I am nothing
A soldier who follows
Every command
No questions asked.
I have nothing
Not a soul
Not a heart
Not a friend.
I have nothing
No one who cares
No one to care for
No one.
I am nothing
I have nothing.
FIRST IMPRESSION
By:
Lee
What do you think when
you turn toward me?
What do you see
standing there?
What untrue life have you
given me?
Who really do you think
I am?
When I look at you
I try to see
past the cover
to what must be.
I try to peer
through your eyes,
break through what seems clear
and cut my way through
others' lies.
What do you see when you
look at me now?
A girl, who you've never known?
Or the version of me
that seems to be branded inside your lids,
the young girl in overalls and
bruised knees?
To you who claim to trust me,
you've never really known me,
first impressions last with you.
THINGS DO CHANGE
By: Lee
As the wind blows on,
the time flies by.
Things do change
and friendships die.
Learning from mistakes,
we have to grow.
Now facing the truth,
we try to let go.
Living with the shame,
we try to forget
that it won't be the same.
But the pain still there,
the tears fall forth,
now moving on
for all it's worth.
From losing a friend,
we've gained in return -
things do change...
